Post Frac-Flowback

Our FRAC-EVAC solution lets you remove frac fluid faster and get production to market sooner.

What is Frac-Flowback?

Frac-flowback is the recovery of fluid used in the high-pressure hydraulic fracturing process. Typically, there is formation water, oil, and gas recovered along with the frac fluid.

Accelerated frac-flowback is the recovery of frac fluid from a well as quickly as possible while bringing oil and/or gas production to the market immediately. Massive amounts of frac fluid (2000-4000+ BBLS/day) can be removed from a wellbore rapidly. These frac fluids normally contain some concentration of abrasives (proppant/sand) which can be damaging to most forms of artificial lift.

What’s the solution?

We call it FRAC-EVAC. We achieve faster frac-flowback using a patented JJ Tech Jet Pump, set in the tubing string above the packer, just above the perforations. Power fluid (water) is injected down the tubing through a nozzle. The power fluid and produced (frac) fluids are then combined in the throat and returned up the tubing-casing annulus.

The power for FRAC-EVAC is provided by JJ Tech’s ULTRA-FLOW production system. This patented process (US Pat. 7,255,175) combines our SELECT-JET downhole pump with a Hydra-Cell® Pro diaphragm pump at the surface to offer a highly-reliable flowback pumping solution.

Award-winning and field proven, Wanner Hydra-Cell Pro diaphragm pumps have a seal-less design with no packing to wear and leak. Unlike conventional triplex plunger pumps, this seal-less design reduces downtime and maintenance. It’s also an “ESG friendly” option, that prevents oil and saltwater from contaminating the environment. Hydra-Cell Pro pumps are available from 30–330 horsepower, and serve many applications throughout the oil and gas industry.

FRAC-EVAC Results

Case studies prove that FRAC-EVAC can remove large volumes of fluid and bring production to market in a fraction of the recovery time required by a conventional rod pump.

Other advantages of FRAC-EVAC include:

  • Rapid frac fluid recovery helps prevent formation swelling, which can reduce permeability.
  • The JJ Tech Jet Pump can produce high volumes of fluid (up to 4500 BPD) and frac sand.
  • Production rates are easily adjusted for a controlled flowback.
  • Gas can be brought to market immediately.
  • No back pressure is put on the formation (as is with nitrogen).
  • Proprietary software calculates PBHP based on production volumes and injection pressure.
  • Superior Jet Pump metallurgy that can withstand highly corrosive liquids and gasses
  • Jet Pumps can produce high temperatures (280+ F)
  • Concentric String configuration for high GLR wells
